Can not get a jar from maven central
So, the problem is pretty much in the subject of the question.
Today we are not able to retrieve SOME jar files from the maven repo, but
some are retrieved without a problem. This is pretty weird. :) Here is what
the error says:
jvm 1 | 2012-11-05 09:19:14 ERROR [qtp20866423-84 ] -
org.sonatype.nexus.prox
y.maven.maven2.M2Repository - Got RemoteStorageException in proxy repository
"Ma
ven Central" [id=central] while retrieving remote artifact
"ResourceStoreRequest
(requestPath="/org/apache/cxf/cxf-java2ws-plugin/2.4.4/cxf-java2ws-plugin-2.4.4.
pom")" from URL http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/, this is 3 (re)try, cause:
java.n
et.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out
Also, wget on this jar does not work either.
Telnet works.
Also from a different external IP address we can retrieve the jar without a
problem.
Does maven keep like a ban list? Have we been placed in that list? And if
yes how do we get out?
Please notice that this happens ONLY for SOME jars, all the rest a being
taken by maven without a problem.
Cheers,
Eugene.

Yes, these are all related; we've also received a number of new reports
over the last few hours.
The CDN provider is asking for traceroute information from affected
users:
$ traceroute -n repo1.maven.org

One more case from my side:
spring-asm-3.1.3.RELEASE-sources.jar can be downloaded (it seems to be
empty jar btw)
spring-asm-3.1.3.RELEASEjar cannot be downloaded,
[ipsilon ss]# !curl

Maybe it's something with file/cache system on httpd level?

Hi,
I'm opening a ticket with the CDN provider regarding this issue; the
diagnostic info you've provided will hopefully provide enough
information to track down the root cause of the issue. If you'd like to
respond offline to me with your IP address, that will also be helpful:
$ curl http://ifconfig.me
In the meantime, you can retrieve this artifact from search.maven.org:
http://search.maven.org/#artifactdetails%7Corg.codehaus.woodstox%7Cwoodstox-core-asl%7C4.1.4%7Cjar

N oone has been blacklisted in a while. Can you give us the headers like
shown here:

Then we can go to the CDN and see what's up.

Hello Ron,
As a matter of fact we do have our own repo, nexus based.
We have A LOT of projects that we have to "mavenize", thus, yes I think that
maven thinks we are doing something wrong. But then again, all that we do is
get some jars from it, nothing else, nothing more, isn't maven suppose to do
that in the first place? I'm confused.
Ok, so how do we get out of the blacklist? Whom do we contact, etc?
Thank You,
Eugene.

Re: Can not get a jar from maven central

You might be blacklisted.
I got a pretty quick response to the http link.
Have you done anything that might have made Maven Central think that you
should be blacklisted?
If so, you probably have to reassure them that you will not do it again.
Do you have your own repo in place?
Ron
