[jira] [Commented] (YARN-5358) Consider adding a config setting to accept logical cluster name

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YARN-5358?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16567985#comment-16567985 ]

Vrushali C commented on YARN-5358:
----------------------------------

There will be a need to publish the physical cluster id from each container. Since containers for one app will run on multiple physical clusters, we should be able to answer queries like how many containers from this app ran on subClusterA and subClusterB etc

> As part of the discussion in the context of Timeline Service and Federation integration (YARN-5357), we may want to allow for configurable cluster name (in addition to the physical cluster name which is part of cluster setting).
> Filing jira to think about this.
> The logical (aka federated) cluster names should be restricted to a whitelist perhaps so that it can't be totally upto to the user.
