tomcat.exe does not report error back to Service Manager

Hi,

I use jdmk(JMX) to manage a tomcat installed remotely.

Currently issuing a net start starts the service no matter
if there is a bind exception or not. I modified the
CatalinaService and added System.exit(123);  if there is a
LifeCycleException.

How do I get tomcat.exe to report this 123 error code to
Service Manager?

any help is much appreciated.
