some notes from the session on tomcat performance

- JVM
  hotspot profiling optimizer "-server"
  use -Xincgc (incremental gc)
  -Xss reduce thread stack
  -verbose:gc gc performance data
  java world gc article

tomcat

 liveDeploy false
 debug 0
 swallowOutput true swallowOutput true in tomcat redirects the errors that
go to standard error to the logs where they belong.
 reloadable false

 minProcessors
 maxProcessors
 acceptCount # new connections at socket -> 10 high # bad for GC
 enableLookups

 jprobe look for thread synchronization bottlenecks

 tomcat freezes usually due to GC
