I'm pushing this off the 3.1.0 list.

The current 3.1.0 preforking code is a lot more efficient in dealing with
allocated memory, by using the same child as frequently as possible instead of
round-robining through all kids.  so efficiency is improved there.

in addition, spamd's actually doing a pretty good job of sharing RAM as it is. 
it's just linux 2.6.x and Red Hat's 2.4.x kernels that are reporting it entirely
incorrectly.
