   ## Summary
   Also refactored code to remove a confusing duplicate "dma_chan" field which had the same purpose of the "use_dma" boolean.
   
   ## Impact
   The only possible impact is regarding performance improvement for SPI transfers less than the configured threshold.
   
   ## Testing
   `esp32-devkitc:nsh` with custom SPI devices.
