xml document like a string

I need to receive a XML document like string inside the tag 'groups':

<groups xsi:type="xsd:string">

<group>123</group>
<group>456</group>
<group>789</group>
<group>020</group>

</groups>

but when I receive the response, the result.getValue() is null!
why? why the parser manage the content of the tag groups?

I have taken this idea from the XMethods Filesystem Service
(http://www.xmethods.net/xfs/) and have used their java client code but I
don't understand why it does not run!

thanks
  dino
