[lucy-dev] Incubator PMC/Board report for July 2011 (lucy-dev@incubator.apache.org)
Dear Lucy Developers,
This email was sent by an automated system on behalf of the Apache Incubator PMC.
It is an initial reminder to give you plenty of time to prepare your quarterly
board report.
The board meeting is scheduled for Wed, 20 July 2011, 10 am Pacific. The report
for your podling will form a part of the Incubator PMC report. The Incubator PMC
requires your report to be submitted one week before the board meeting, to allow
sufficient time for review.
Please submit your report with sufficient time to allow the incubator PMC, and
subsequently board members to review and digest. Again, the very latest you
should submit your report is one week prior to the board meeting.
Thanks,
The Apache Incubator PMC
Submitting your Report
----------------------
Your report should contain the following:
* Your project name
* A brief description of your project, which assumes no knowledge of the project
or necessarily of its field
* A list of the three most important issues to address in the move towards
graduation.
* Any issues that the Incubator PMC or ASF Board might wish/need to be aware of
* How has the community developed since the last report
* How has the project developed since the last report.
This should be appended to the Incubator Wiki page at:
http://wiki.apache.org/incubator/July2011
Note: This manually populated. You may need to wait a little before this page is
created from a template.
Mentors
-------
Mentors should review reports for their project(s) and sign them off on the
Incubator wiki page. Signing off reports shows that you are following the
project - projects that are not signed may raise alarms for the Incubator PMC.

I've entered our July 2011 report, and it's now waiting for Mentor signoff:

Done and done.
> 3) anything else to add based on the july report?
We're making progress towards our goal of diversifying our committer ranks and
dispersing knowledge of the codebase outwards, and for the Charmonizer layer,
in my estimation, we've achieved what we needed to achieve. That went into
the report, but I'm not sure how to put it into the Incubation status page.

I'm going to opt out on updating the main home page with such info. I dislike
website designs that require constant refreshing in order to inspire
confidence ("there hasn't been a 'news' update in two months -- is this
project dead?"), and instead prefer to leave time-sensitive information to
secondary pages. If someone else wants to commit to keeping it up to date
they can. I'm satisfied with my contributions to the site as of now. :)
We may want to add something about not bundling parsers to the FAQ.
Thanks as always for the thoughtful suggestions, Hoss.

after drafting up the july report, it would also be a good time to review
the incubation status page and the website...
Status page updates...
http://incubator.apache.org/projects/lucy.html
1) link to new july report
2) update note about 0.1.0 release
3) anything else to add based on the july report?
Site updates...
http://incubator.apache.org/lucy/
1) 0.1.0 doens't seem to be listed on the main page ... might want to draw
attention to that more.
2) anything new that should be added to the FAQ?
3) anything else to add based on the july report?
