Error in tomcat/doc/appdev/sample/build.xml

In the current stable release of tomcat (3.1), the file
"tomcat/doc/appdev/sample/build.xml" has a section that
looks like:

  <property name="app.name"       value="myapp"
  <property name="deploy.home"    value="${tomcat.home}/webapps/${app.name}"/>
  <property name="dist.home"      value="${deploy.home}"/>

The first line of this excerpt is missing the closing angle
bracket, ">".

An inexperienced user might not notice this, nor understand the
XML error message that says attributes may not start with "<".
The error comes from trying to parse:

  <property name="app.name" value="myapp" <property name="...

The fix is to append "/>" after 'value="myapp"'.

I don't know what the correct procedure is for this kind of
thing.

David

P.S. Tomcat looks very good! It is more complicated than
Jserv, but more powerful, and potentially a LOT more powerful!
Thanks to those who are working on it!
