MNG-1577

Hey Ralph/Patrick/Mike,

I see the tree in the sandbox that corresponds to trunk, but is there
one for the branch or is it pretty much the same in both?

Thanks,

Jason.

Great, I was going to try and integrate next Thursday after
EclipseCon madness is over.

I believe the patch is very very similar for the branch but the
sandbox code was for the trunk code as of a few weeks ago. Patrick is
out on vacation this week and back on Monday. I know we found two
bugs in the patch while using it internally over the last month that
are not fixed in the sandbox code. He can give more detail when he
gets back.

My apologies, I've been trying to organize things a bit more so that
more releases can be made and I've been trying to sweep through JIRA
to get some more visibility, and many folks have been pitching in
with plugin releases but we can only do what we can do. I admit that
we have been remiss with releases and trying to integrate the work of
others. I hope some samples of ITs, general improvements to the ITs,
the release management tools and pushing to get more direct input on
smaller releases will help. But I would have to say overall we have
done a poor job over the last year and for the most part have failed
our users. The development team, and I'm no exception, were not
focused. Thankfully you are vocal in a constructive way but your
concern echos the concerns of many more I would imagine. I hoping
that our actions in the short term will demonstrate we're correcting
the problems as fast as possible.

I'm am still going to try and round up the necessary help and
encourage folks to help get 2.0.6 out before March 14th as I stated
when 2.0.5 was released.

I will back port MNG-1577 myself if necessary. And the other nasty
snapshot bugs where newer snapshots are not being pulled down
correctly wreaking havoc in a handful of production environments I
know have first hand experience with.

Thanks,

Jason.

Patrick & Mike took this over. To be honest, I really don't know what
they are doing. I think they are confused over your desire to have this
be "just the way it works" in 2.1. That means the override tag won't be
there in 2.1. However, it has to be there in 2.0.x to preserve
compatibility. As a consequence, the last message I saw led me to
believe they had made, or were going to make this so it won't apply to
2.0.x. I really don't care if it is 2.1 if 2.1 is going to be released
in the next couple of months.

But to be honest Jason, this took so long that I had to finally give up
on switching to version 2 altogether as the development window for doing
the switch closed a couple of months ago. I'm not really enjoying that
much as I'm now in the middle of writing more Maven 1 plugins.
