Here is an overview of the issue:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
        Key: AXIS-1245
Summary: WSDL2Java uses primitives for rpc/enc nillable values
       Type: Bug

     Status: Open
   Priority: Critical

    Project: Axis
 Components:
             WSDL processing
   Versions:
             1.2 Alpha

   Assignee: Glen Daniels
   Reporter: Dennis Sosnoski

    Created: Wed, 3 Mar 2004 9:29 AM
    Updated: Wed, 3 Mar 2004 12:31 PM

Description:
WSDL2Java generates classes using primitive types when it should use wrapper types for values flagged as nillable. There's then no way for the code to know whether a particular value has actually been set or not.

This worked properly in 1.1, is broken in 1.2 alpha and in a recent build from CVS.
