Interoperability with Microsoft's implementation.
I am working on a proposal for a client that involves using XML over
HTTP to communicate with a service running on NT written in C++. I am
suppose to be creating a client API to this service written in Java.
Naturally, I would like to use SOAP. I am proposing that they use
Microsoft's implementation for their server-side development.
My question concerns the current and future state of interoperability
with Microsoft's SOAP implementation. As I understand, there are issues
that keep their version from playing nice with the IBM / apache
implementation. My questions are:
- Is this true?
- If the two are incompatible, are there patches that can be applied to
the Apache version that makes it compatible with MS? Open source makes
it possible.
- If the two are incompatible, what is the plan / timeline for resolving
the differences?
- Any other suggestions for the scenario painted above?
Thanks for the input,
Mike

Mike,
you might want to check out my just released 4S4C[1], a SOAP/COM
server, which is compatible with the IBM implementation out of the
box. The download includes a number of client examples that use the
IBM implementation to talk to the SOAP/COM server.
Cheers
