[jira] [Commented] (CMIS-466) Timezone is optional

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CMIS-466?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16850992#comment-16850992 ]

Bikalpa Pandey commented on CMIS-466:
-------------------------------------

Do we not have an option to ignore the time zone? There is a scenario where multiple processes are writing to the Source and they don't have a way to give us which timezone the source data was written in. Now when we read that data into parquet, it is forcibly adding a timezone component to it, whether UTC or Local. We don't want to add any zone information to the timestamp values we are getting and process them as is.

> The spec has:
> {noformat}
> <datetime string> ::= YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss.sss[Z | +hh:mm | -hh:mm]
> {noformat}
> which means that the timezone is optional, but our code doesn't take this into account and mandates it.
