Thanks [~rteague]. There are actually some other issues with *status 'replication'* command for both sink and source sections that I'm still investigating. The current behaviour is also misleading, as some of the metrics will assume the RS startup time when no action had happened. For example, "sink.ageOfLastAppliedOp" will be showing the RS startup date even if the cluster is only operating as a source and had actually no OPs applied to it, which is really confusing (for this specific case, I had an initial proposal for branch-1 on HBASE-21406).

So, I think it's better to block this jira until we have a conclusion on the issues I mentioned.
