Namespace & XPath Question

I'm trying to use they same technique as shown in the ApplyXPathDOM example
that is bundled with Xalan. It works just fine on the foo.xml that is
included, but it won't work on any SVG XML document. If I remove the
<!DOCTYPE statement and the xmlns attribute from the svg element it will
run correctly, but with those included it won't return any results.

Here is the command line that I've been running:
java ApplyXPathDOM batikYin.svg //g

And attached is the SVG file that I've been running it against. I got this
doc from the Batik project, so I'm confident that the file itself is not
the problem. I think it's just my lack of knowlege of XML namespaces. Any
help that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

(See attached file: batikYin.svg)
