> Key: PHOENIX-3638
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PHOENIX-3638
> Project: Phoenix
> Issue Type: Sub-task
> Reporter: Mujtaba Chohan

> Immutable column encoding with offset data is highly compressible, in test with various schemas, space saving ranges from 1.5X to 3X whereas FAST_DIFF encoding has not any significant impact as expected.
> Enabling compression would lead to better performance for disk I/O bound queries. The amount of space saving depends on sparsity, number of columns and data shape.
