This JIRA introduces a new geronimo-assembly-plugin for M2 and migrates the Jetty J2EE assembly to build a binary distro in M2.

WHAT?!  Are you kidding?!

You are saying that /branches/1.1 is less important than /trunk?  Is  
that really want you mean to say?  That is in fact what you did say,  
so unless it is not what you meant I suggest you reword your statement.

Again. Have the patches been applied to trunk? Unless the answer is
yes, I think it should be re-opened and wait until it goes there.
Branches are of less importance to (more experienced) end users who
usually don't build Geronimo from.
