org.apache.avalon.framework.logger.AbstractLogEnabled;

I am attempting to import the James source into my development tool (WSAD)
and I get errors in several classes indicating the following:

the method getLogger() in
org.apache.avalon.framework.logger.AbstractLogEnabled is not visible ???

My guess is that this method is protected and the james class in defined in
a james related / non avalon package. Anyone have an explanation or work
around ???
