If the EDM provider has a schema whose alias is null (default), then writing the Alias attribute in XML (MetadataDocumentXmlSerializer.appendSchema(...)) causes a NullPointerException. The exception comes from the XMLStreamWriter implementatiom's writeAttribute(...) that cannot handle null valued content.
