Nice, I adjusted my subversion settings and posted the link on the dev list, so that follow committers can also update their client.
I applied the patch against the trunk version, we need to do an additional release candiate anyway now to include all the other changes you mentioned. I hope that our build sets the properties correctly since it is doing a subversion copy to move the trunk to the tag. Anyway I will check it.

Thanks for the patch. It does not look like we have these properties in trunk. So we should apply it there as well.
Do you have a best practice for us how to handle this in the future? As far as I understand the issue we need to set these properties correctly for every file we add to subversion. Do we need to all re-configure our IDEs and subversion clients to do this correctly?
If so we might need to add some instructions to our web site which explains it to our committers.
