Contribution to Kafka project

Hello Team,

I am keen to start contributing to the Kafka open source project. I have
gone through the how to contribute page on the Kafka website:
https://kafka.apache.org/contributing

I would like to start with getting required permissions/access to
the project JIRA board. Also, I would like to understand what is the
process involved to begin with contributing to code.
