Please check the apache mirror
http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi/spark/spark-1.3.0/spark-1.3.0.tgz
file. It is not in the gzip format.

Er, click the link? It is indeed a redirector HTML page. This is how all
Apache releases are served.
