[jira] Created: (INFRA-2265) "trivial" wiki edits and reverts are not sending email notifications since MoinMoin upgrade (solr wiki)

"trivial" wiki edits and reverts are not sending email notifications since MoinMoin upgrade (solr wiki)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: INFRA-2265
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-2265
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Bug
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
          Components: MoinMoin
            Reporter: Hoss Man

Over in the solr-dev mailing list we've noticed that since the MoinMoin upgrade trivial edits and version reverts aren't triggering email notification to solr-commits@lucene.apache.org....

http://www.nabble.com/No-mails-for-trivial-wiki-edits-td25657855.html#a25657855

This may be an intentional "feature" of the upgrade, but it's problematic for us: the lack of revert email is a nuisance because it make it hard to track when others have already fixed bad updates. the lack of trivial notifications is really dangerous since anyone can check the trivial box and make any sort of changes.

If we can get notification emails turned back on for *any* type of wiki modification, we'd appreciate it.

really? ... weird, i could have sworn i'd seen them before, but that must have been people "manually" reverting changes.

Thanks for all your help fixing this stuff

[jira] Reopened: (INFRA-2265) "trivial" wiki edits and reverts are not sending email notifications since MoinMoin upgrade (solr wiki)

Posted by "Hoss Man (JIRA)" <ji...@apache.org>.

Hoss Man reopened INFRA-2265:
-----------------------------

Joe/Paul: thanks for working on this, but it looks like there are still some problems...

1) Page "reverts" are still not sending email...

http://wiki.apache.org/solr/DataImportHandler?action=diff&rev2=218&rev1=217

2) The mails that are now getting no longer contain the "comment" from the user who made the edit...

Edit #49 (today) had a comment ("remove escaping from examples for better readability, other little clarifications") and triggered this email...
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/lucene-solr-commits/200910.mbox/%3C20091016140423.11140.32485@eos.apache.org%3E

But if you compare that with an email for an older edit in the archive (19) ...
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/lucene-solr-commits/200812.mbox/%3C20081206115656.16819.5402@eos.apache.org%3E

...you see the comment from that edit ("alphabetized the Input Parameters, added the resource.name and metadata.prefix v") is included in the email above the diff.

--

The lack of comments in the emails makes them confusing (the comments help provide context of why/what was changed) but it's not a high priority -- The lack of notice on reverts seems dangerous though because someone could "revert" to a "bad state" w/o anyone noticing.
