[jira] [Created] (HIVE-5727) Username for scratch directory ignores kerberos authentication

Gwen Shapira created HIVE-5727:
----------------------------------

Summary: Username for scratch directory ignores kerberos authentication
                 Key: HIVE-5727
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-5727
             Project: Hive
          Issue Type: Bug
    Affects Versions: 0.10.0
            Reporter: Gwen Shapira

I'm logged in to Linux as user gwen.shapira.

I use "kinit app_etl" to authenticate in Hadoop as app_etl user.

The scratch directory hive will attempt to use is still /tmp/hive-gwen.shapira

Note that in a properly configured system, app_etl user will not have write permissions in /tmp/hive-gwen.shapira and the query will fail.

Correct behavior:
When Kerberos authentication is used, the user name should be taken from the kerberos ticket.
