.ds links eixsts in M4 ?
Hi, i start to migrate from version M3 to M4 of jetspeed-2.
I hace a portal working on M3, with a menu configured with .ds files, and
now i need to migrate the decortators (layout and portlets), the problema is
i see than in M4 dosnt exists in M4. How can i make in M4 ... My menu is
somethin like this
-------------
- Group 1-- (this is only a tittle)
---- link1 --- (this is a link to a psm file)
----link 2----
-------------
- Group 2--
---- link3 ---
----link 4----
-------------
Where Group 1, and Group 2 wehere .ds files indicating de contentes of this
group (and a folder with the same name)=, and link 1 and link 2 where psml
files, inside a folder, ths .ds gives the order of this files, and the
folder.metadata gices the order for the grups.
Thanks to all !!!
Santiago

Santiago,
Two things:
1. menu definitons are inherited from parent folder.metadata, so no
reason to put them in all folder.metadata subfolders unless there is a
change you want to make.
2. you do not have to modify the decorator if you simply override the
'navigations' menu definition in your /folder.metadata file:
<menu name="navigations">
...
</menu>
If you need dynamic menus in subfolders per group, you should look into
the profiler as I mentioned earlier on this thread.

Re: .ds links eixsts in M4 ?
Posted by Santiago Urrizola <ch...@yahoo.com.ar>.
Randy, here is the case.
my strtucture for guest users for example (other gruops are the same, for
now this is not a problem) is :
/folder1
page1.psml
page2.psml
/folder2
page3.psml
page4.psml
defatul-page.psml
folder.metadata
And i want to paint a menu just like that in all pages, for example when the
user navigates the default-page.psml and when navigate the
/group1/page2.psml he must see the same menu.
I change the decoractor,
this line set($navigationsStandardMenu = $site.getMenu("navigations"))
to this line set($navigationsStandardMenu =
$site.getMenu("page-navigations"))
and add this to the folder.metada
<menu name="page-navigations">
<separator>Group 1</separator>
<options regexp="true">/inicio/*.psml</options>
<separator>Group 2</separator>
<options regexp="true">/mundoCritica/*.psml</options>
</menu>
so, i paint only the pages and folders that apears in the page-navigation in
the folder metadata, i dont want to paint automatically the folders, only
ones that i write in the folder.metada file.
the question is: I must replicate this configuration of folder.metadata file
in all the folder.metadata inside other folders ?
and: Is this the correct way to do this ? read only the page-navigation
menu, and not the all navigation or there is a more convenient way to do
this ?
Thanks a lot
Santiago

Santiago,
I am not quite following your use case, but it seems that you should be
looking into using the profiler. If you are already, great! Otherwise,
the idea is to add group(s) to each portal user. Then, you can place
menu PSML in each group's folder.metadata, (i.e.
pages/_group/groupN/folder.metadata).
I would have to know more about what you are attempting to offer much
better advice.

Santiago,
Yes, the *.ds fiels have been deprecated for M4. See the PortalSite
component design documentation for a general discussion of the required
conversion.
Here is an example you can use to get started:
The built-in implementation of the 'navigations' menu includes the
options of any menu named 'page-navigations'. You should be able to
define something like this in your /folder.metadata file:
<menu name="page-navigations">
<separator>Group 1</separator>
<options regexp="true">/group1/*.psml</options>
<separator>Group 2</separator>
<options regexp="true">/group2/*.psml</options>
</menu>
A complete menu PSML reference can also be found in the PortalSite
component design documentation.
