   I need to look at the code to fully understand what you are saying, but what is the issue do you see here? Potential dataloss? or the log can get replayed everytime bookie restarts hence it can create duplicate entries (over-replication) ? How is this different from the following scenario? checkpoint -> receive writes -> bookie turning RO ?
