This is an umbrella JIRA to correspond to the [design doc|https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WcUQ7nC3fzLFtZLofzO6kvWdGHFaaqh97fC_PvqVGCk/edit?ts=5b061b5b#heading=h.b9uweqmgvh2l] that proposes implementing the Impala catalog by managing a granular cache within the impalad. Individual JIRAs will be filed as subtasks.
