How to get mailing lists statistics

Hi,

Someone was asking about how to get mailing list stats.

The lists pages under http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/ have
the number of messages per month.

For subscribers lists (which must be kept private), list moderators
can write to <listname>-list@groovy.incubator.apache.org

https://reporter.apache.org provides nice mailing lists graphics for
PMC members, but it doesn't seem to include incubating projects so
far. Maybe ask on dev@community.a.o about this.

http://markmail.org/ also provides nice traffic graphs, lists can be
archived there by asking via http://markmail.org/docs/feedback.xqy

But that's only for TLPs, or am I missing something?

Thanks,
Roman.

Thanks for the tip David, it works!
It's pretty easy to get those numbers myself, so I like such solutions :-)

 in example:

dev-list@groovy.incubator.apache.org - but that will only work for
list moderators.

Sending an email to the list server sounds like the way to go!
By any chance, do you know what email do we have to send to get that
information?

No, we won't be able to accommodate such requests.

But, there are some stats available at mail-archives.apache.org
You can see the following has message counts:
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/incubator-groovy-dev/

Mods can get a count of subscribers via sending an email. So it's all
relatively self-service.

Yeah, as I said it looks like reporter.apache.org does not take
incubating projects into account so far.

Best place to ask about that is dev@community.apache.org AFAICS.

Actually... reporter gave me something the next time...

You are not a member of any PMC, sorry!

I'm seeing "*Loading: NaN% done*

Hmm... is this reporter website supposed to be working? :-)

For the mailing-lists, we're using already Nabble for archiving, as a
continuation from our past archives, so that users are not list and can
still search through the whole history of the project... but I don't think
it offers stats.

Could perhaps INFRA give us such numbers when asked?

As your are a PMC member, https://reporter.apache.org/ should work for you.

The mailing list stats there might be made public (but no I'm not
volunteering right now ;-)

That's exactly how I've doing it on all the projects
I'm involved in so far. The amount of manual
labor pains me. Perhaps there's a better way.

Thanks,
Roman.

P.S. But then, again, it only pains me once a month. So... yeah:
