Nope. Telnet isn't the only way to use that, it is just
a conventient way of testing that it works.
I would write:
"Bauen Sie eine Telnet-Verbindung dorthin (zu diesem Echo-Server)
auf und geben Sie etwas auf der Tastatur ein, und er (der Server)
wird es (ihre Eingabe) Ihnen zurück senden."

"Eche" => "Echo".
