Hi! (jisp 3.0 is GPL!)

Hi:

I am committer from Apache Cocoon. Currently, we found that jisp release
3.0 switched to a GPL License:

http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?t=107727454700003&r=1&w=2

AFAIK, GPL is incompatible with our ASL.

We (the Cocoon community) have interest in change our cache system and use
JCS as the new cache system for Cocoon. We found JCS currently is using
jisp and this is the same problem we need to solve. I hope we can work
together to solve this problem that concern both projects.

What do you think?

Best Regards,

Antonio Gallardo

Hi James!

Glad to get a fast your response from you. I will consult with the Cocoon
community and see if we will agree to change our currently cache system
and start using Apache JCS. :-D

Best Regards,

Antonio Gallardo

Jisp is only one of the disk persistence plugins for JCS. That
particular plugin is actually more a proof of concept than anything
else because Jisp can be pretty slow.

Cocoon folks jumping into JCS would be great, I've already made some
efforts to make it component friendly internally, and I believe it can
easily be wrapped in an Avalon component (whatever that means these
days). The place care needs to be taken is verifying that the
auxiliaries one uses in a component setting do not use any static
fields (some of the existing ones do since they assume only one JCS per
classloader / JVM.
