[RELEASE] Respin snapshot builds for early verification available
Hi,
before I go on Christmas vacation I have built snapshots for our
upcoming AOO 3.4.1 respin to support further languages.
I create a build for Danish, Swedish, Polish, Norwegian Bokmal, Scottish
Gaelic and Korean.
Danish is not 100% up-to-date because we ran in some errors. I will
prepare a new build asap. Korean do I have included but it is hopefully
not the final version.
New languages will be still accepted until Jan. 4th, 2013

To follow the standard procedure, you should attach the zipped PO files
to this issue I've just created:
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=121559
(you will need to register an account for Bugzilla).
If the ZIP file is too big to be attached, specify just a link there or
send the file to me in private and I'll update the issue. Please specify
the names of all volunteers involved so that we can give them proper credit.

Then it's already in good hands... it's just holiday time in Europe (and
elsewhere). But the procedure above is what we recommend, see

Fortunately, Korean translation was completed in time. Would you let me
know how can I submit the po files? Actually, I sent you email several days
ago with the zipped po files as attachment, but it looks like being lost
somewhere. :-)

Korean translation for 3.4.1 is almost done and I expect it will be ready

With the discussion of moving our official Apache "dist" location, it
was suggested that we keep these additions "branded", i.e. with
incubator, as the original 3.4.1 packs. So, these new languages will be
tagged as "incubator" too.

Yes, please no differences within a release. Otherwise it's more
complicate to make all these exceptions in the scripts.
For AOO 4.0 this will change, for sure - and some things more.

too: having it for some languages only would break the assumptions we
make in some scripts. 4.0 (or 3.4.2 if needed for some reasons) will be

volunteer in testing them and linking to the l10n mailing list, not to

release was close, becuase the translation was ready...so this time I would
prefer to wait until we can actually show something.
And I also understood from the very detailed license discussions, that we
are not allowed to publicly announce dev-builds...but maybe this is a

it should be possible but it was not well communicated from me. I prepared the snapshots in short term before I went on vacation. Ariel could build snapshots but I haven't asked him to prepare official snapshots. That was planned for January. I thought it could make sense to give translators the chance for an early preview if they use windows or Mac. I will improve the communication...

In case someone missed Ariel's message on ooo-dev; thanks to Ariel,
snapshots for testing on Linux have been available starting today at
http://people.apache.org/~arielch/packages/respin_aoo341
They cover 32 and 64 bit, DEB and RPM packages, 5 languages (da, gd, ko,
nb, pl). They are to be installed as language packs after you have
installed the suitable English version of OpenOffice 3.4.1. If you need
more instruction, of course it's enough to ask.

After first and not very deep overview of AOO341 I have to say that
Polish translation seems to be quite good. When I come back from my
holiday I will have a look closer for it.
Jurgen is it any chance to get .deb package to install aoo on my
laptop, it would let me do some testing job while I'm traveling.

Dear Jürgen Schmidt!
I have edited the Danish translation of the press release "Apache software Foundation announces Apache OpenOffice™ as a Top-Level Project."
The Danish version of the press release at http://www.openoffice.org/da/ suffers from a great number of misspellings and other mistakes, due to automatic / machine-translation from English.
I have also taken the liberty to re-organize the content to make it more readable and logic. Also, I have written the meaning of diverse acronyms i parenthesis.

Linux 32 and 64 bits DEBs/RPMs language packs can be found at
http://people.apache.org/~arielch/packages/respin_aoo341
These are language packs, you are supposed to have a full en-US
installed before installing them.

Fortunately, Korean translation was completed in time. Would you let me
know how can I submit the po files? Actually, I sent you email several days
ago with the zipped po files as attachment, but it looks like being lost
somewhere. :-)
