   This issue was reviewed as part of the JIRA-migrated backlog triage.
   
   Findings: this is a New Feature request, not a bug. Today the (Flink) catalog integration supports the JDBC catalog; this asks to add more catalog backends (Hive catalog, REST catalog, cloud-vendor catalogs). No implementation has been merged.
   
   Keeping open as a feature request.
