CVS Commit Access For Bill Schindler
I would like to propose that Bill Schindler be given CVS commit access for
the Xerces-C project.
Bill has been active in the project since last February. He has
contributed and maintained the OS/2 port, has been working on the XML
formatter code, and has been an active participant on this list. I look
forward to his continued participation.
Also, we need more committers, and especially non-IBM committers. Right
now, things are too bottlenecked through me, as several of the IBM folks
who were working on xerces-c have moved on to other projects.
The way commit access works within the Apache projects is this: Within
the dev mailing list (that's here) a vote is taken, with +1 meaning
support, 0 meaning no support, but not vetoing, and -1 being a veto.
If the result shows general support and no vetoes, the results are sent on
to the Apache Project Management Committee, and from there the necessary
accounts and permissions are set up.
I'll start - here's my vote:
+1
Please reply with your +1s.

I'm not completely sure whether there's some Apache policy for
other projects. But for xerces-c, since the ranks of active
committers are pretty thin, I'd say that anyone who has been
on the list long enough to see how things generally go and to
see Bill's contributions should go ahead and vote, if they're
inclined to do so.

You didn't mention who gets to vote. Is it only people who
already have commit authority?
I certainly could not submit a meaningful vote nor do I want to,
just curious.
