Axis and BPEL

Hi,

can anyone point me in the right direction here.

I have an axis2 web service created and deployed and I want to learn
how to use it with BPEL.

I am looking for a good online tutorial that will take me through an
END-TO-END development of implementing BPEL with axis. No short cuts.

I emphasise END-TO-END as I have been on the oracle site and all
tutorials use the deigner, and invoke web services that are generated
for you in an oracle build script.

My gripes about this are,

1. No code tutorial, just a GUI drag and drop, I don't know what is
happening behind the scenes.
2. The web services are not very extensive.
3. I am not sure how to invoke the bpel process in java, as the
tutorials don't cover this. For example are BPEL process stubs created
similar to axis stubs, which I then invoke which then invoke axis
stubs, which invoke the axis webservice. None of this is talked about
in any tutorial.

If there is nothing out there to recommend, would it be cheeky to ask
if some-one would donate a simple demo they have got to work with an
axis service.

I have to deploy to oracle 10.1.3 soa suite.

Thanks for any help,

jp.

yes!! you're right!!

If you're looking for a fast tool to getting started you could use the
intallio BMP tool. I try it and is really fast to understand and is based on
Apache ODE.

http://www.intalio.com/

Also, provides you a BPEL4PEOPLE IBM Paper implementation. take a look at!!

Thanks Matthieu,

from the pure-ist perspective, it takes a lot of control away from me
and with regards to coupling these services together I don't feel I
get the best know how using a designer.

I have used the oracle bpel designer with its tutorials, and have
walked away none the wiser. The tutorials are just not extensive
enough to aid a developer like me that develops by hand most things.

The undercurrent architecture is not well defined in the tutorials.

One of the best technical books I ever read was "apache axis for the
next generation". Step by step, no fluff, helpful tips. And a
comprehensive explanation of the architecture.

Anyway I suppose I can always hack the .xml files and so on from the tutorials.

Hi John,

The broken links are a consequence of linking to code that gets refactored.
It's nice to link to code but I'm starting to wonder whether it's not a bad
practice as it usually moves around and there's no refactoring option in
Confluence :) I've fixed them and they should be mirrored tomorrow.

We are still trying to catch up on the documentation side but these 2 pages
should give you a good overview:

http://incubator.apache.org/ode/creating-a-process.html
http://incubator.apache.org/ode/developer-guide.html

As Victor mentioned a good designer helps, hand coding BPEL is really a pain
(I have to do it regularly and can't say I enjoy much that part). Also feel
free to show up on the user mailing lists and ask questions.

Cheers,
Matthieu

Creating a Process has relevant information to my needs, however all
hyper links on that page, for e.g. to see the complete example of
deploy.xml leads to a 404.

all other links on the user guide,

Deploying a Process
Process Management
Starting ODE (AXIS2 Integration)
Starting ODE (JBI Integration)
Undeploying a Process

the pages are empty,

I think this site is in transition?

What about this one http://incubator.apache.org/ode/user-guide.html

Hi Victor, most of the user guide pages are empty?

Hi John, take a look at this.

http://incubator.apache.org/ode/

this is a BPEL engine that use Axis2
