[HEADS-UP] Repositories transfer to Apache org
I'm glad to inform that the the first KIE repository has been
successfully transferred from the kiegroup to the Apache organization:
https://github.com/apache/incubator-kie-optaplanner
Now it's time to move the rest of the agreed repositories that are
tracked by the following issue:
https://github.com/kiegroup/kie-issues/issues/428
So tomorrow, starting 12pm EDT I'll start transferring the repositories.

Alex Porcelli

Sure :-)
I’m deeply involved in Industrial IoT … mainly in Apache PLC4X (Universal adapter for communicating with industrial hardware) and Apache IoTDB (IoT Time-Series Database).
I’ve come across way more use-cases, where a simple rule-engine would have solved many tasks in the automation industry.
Apache IoTDB is currently working on building a platform to run logic on the (stream of) incoming data and the data inside the DB. Being albe to run Drules rules inside the DB could be a super easy solution for many of these use-cases.
Streampipes is a UI centric platform for processing streams of data … being able to react to information passing along on these streams, could also be a very powerful tool.

Thank you for spotting one more repo that has been left behind, Matteo!
It’s expected that we’ll continue finding repos in the next few weeks as we
start to prepare the environment at Apache.

Hi PPMC,
it seems to me the repo:
https://github.com/kiegroup/dmn-feel-handbook#readme
which renders the DMN FEEL Handbook:
https://kiegroup.github.io/dmn-feel-handbook
is not included as part of the migration.
I was wondering if there was a specific reason, and I'm available for
clarifications, or if it simply slipped under the radar, and so I thought
about mentioning it either way.
I know external hyperlinks exist pointing to the GH pages on kiegroup, but
one mitigation could be to setup the kiegroup as mirror after the migration
(if desired by PPMC) of the Apache "upstream" repo, and have GH pages
served from both--so not to lose people coming from an old link.
Hope this helps.

I'm writing to update you on the status of the code repository transfers.
As of now, we have successfully transferred 16 repositories.
Additionally, we continue to identify potential repositories for
transfer, such as [1], [2], and [3].
We've identified an issue with a set of repositories associated with
the KIE Tools: [4], [5], [6], and [7]. The challenge stems from the
automation in these repositories being based on GHA. Given the
limitations of GHA usage within the Apache organization, it's been
considered more sensible to transition all the automation to Jenkins.
This conversion will take some time, and there's a current discussion
on the matter available at [8].
Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information.

it's correct, it makes sense to skip them.

Hi Max,
IIUC, those 2 repositories are product repositories for RHPAM 7.x, is
that correct? I guess in that case they should not be moved.

Hi PMCC,
in the list are missing these kie repos
https://github.com/kiegroup/kie-cloud-operator
and
https://github.com/jboss-container-images/rhpam-7-openshift-image
are the repos to create the images of the Java apps and the operator to
deploy them on Kubernetes.
I was wondering if there was a specific reason or if it simply missed
during this first stage,
Thanks.
