Japanese fonts

Hi

I have reviewed the recent messages in this newsgroup to try an determine the 
suitability of FOP for rendering Asian fonts (partic. Japanese) into PDF.  It 
appears that this is not yet supported.

Are there plans to include this functionality in the short-term.  Has anyone 
already succeeded in doing this?  Examples would be welcome.
