Linking tomcat-apache on AIX 4.3

I used apxs -c *.c -o mod_jserv.so
on Linux to create the .so file for the libexec in apache. It works fine.

On AIX with gcc, the same apxs -c *.c -o mod_jserv.so errored out with
#ld -H512 -T512 -bhalt:4 -bM:SRE -bnoentry
-bI:/usr/local/apacheSrc/libexec/http
d.exp -lc -o autochange.so mod_jserv.o jserv_wrapper_win.o
jserv_wrapper_unix.o
jserv_wrapper.o jserv_watchdog.o jserv_utils.o jserv_status.o
jserv_protocols.o
jserv_mmap.o jserv_image.o jserv_balance.o jserv_ajpv12.o jserv_ajpv11.o
autocha
nge.o -o mod_jserv.so

ld: 0711-244 ERROR: No csects or exported symbols have been saved.
apxs:Break: Command failed with rc=524288

Changing the ld option in apxs to include -r -bnogc creates a mod_jserv.so
( I am not sure if
I should do this, but that is the only thing I could figure out from the ld
 man page)
#ls -l mod_jserv.so
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 500 244863 May 11 17:29 mod_jserv.so

Tomcat runs great stand-alone.
When I start apache, it fails with this error message
Syntax error on line 1 of
/usr/local/jakarta-tomcat/conf/tomcat-apache.conf:
Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/mod_jserv.so into server:
0509-022
 Cannot load module /usr/local/apache/libexec/mod_jserv.so.
0509-108 The .loader section does not exist.
/usr/local/apache/bin/httpsdctl start: httpd could not be started

Any ideas to get this working on AIX would be appreciated.
Thanks
