[jira] [Created] (NETBEANS-2806) Consider using `/opt/` path by default for installer

Ulf Zibis created NETBEANS-2806:
-----------------------------------

Summary: Consider using `/opt/` path by default for installer
                 Key: NETBEANS-2806
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-2806
             Project: NetBeans
          Issue Type: Improvement
    Affects Versions: 11.1
            Reporter: Ulf Zibis
             Fix For: 11.1

The recent installer uses `/usr/local/` by default, when installing under root.
In my understanding, this path is reserved for software which overrides existing versions from the official distribution.
Wouldn't it not be better to use the `/opt/` path by default. Then the user could override it with e.g. nightly versions by help of the `/usr/local/` mechanics.
