Got the 1.7.0 library compiled under Cygwin.
Your patches are backwards (so they ask you to revert when you try to apply them).
In the instructions your runConfigure command line should have '-c gcc' instead
of '-C gcc' (the caps makes it mean something else).
I'm currently trying to get the samples to build properly...
