   I believe DataFusion 55 brings in a "StatisticsProvider" that can be plugged in to extend the DataFusion computed statistics. I am not sure this is materially different than walking the ExecutionPlan tree ourselves and propagating stats; however, it will give our stats computation a pluggable home if we follow a similar pattern before DataFusion 55 is a dependency here.
