I like this change overall ... it means you can iterate over many more finite strings if you want. I think a dedicated iterator is OK; just mark it @lucene.experimental so we are free to improve it later.

I think that's fine and it's an impl detail (which strings you'll get when you hit the limit) ... can you update the javadocs to say so?
