Form : should it be possible to call validate() onBeforeRender ?

Hi

I just had some issue because I was calling validate() in some form 
onBeforeRender() : it was working with some components but not all of them.

However, the question now arises whether it was a good idea at all : 
should validate() work if called in onBeforeRender ?
