Hello. This sounds like a great question for the xerces-j-user list! Xerces
has had the capability to validate instance documents against schemas from the
command-line for a very long time; sax.Counter will indeed do that for you.
Recently (well, not that recently--since 2.0.2), Xerces acquired a sample
program (xni.XMLGrammarBuilder) that can validate XML Schema documents stand-
alone. Xerces currently has no means to validate schema documents against the
Schema for Schemas, however.
