reading several Documents with the same DTD

Hello
 
Using Xerces 1.2.1 I have the following problem. I have several xml
documents which all share the same dtd. I parse the xml-files one by one
using a new instance of the same parser. The first document is parsed
correctly but when the second one is passed I get a fatal Error saying that
the dtd could not be found. 
 
I saw that for the second document the stream to the dtd-file could not be
opened so I assume that the first parser still holds the dtd-file.
 
Is there a posiibility to share the DTD-Files or to close it?
 
Any help would be very much appreciated.
