[jira] [Commented] (NUTCH-1056) Write a new plugin example for inclusion on the wiki

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NUTCH-1056?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13085742#comment-13085742 ]

Lewis John McGibbney commented on NUTCH-1056:
---------------------------------------------

I've updated the Plugin Central here [1] to include an up-to-date tutorial on how the urlmeta plugin is put together, this covers all of the constituent parts required to begin developing Nutch plugins as well as a complete run-down of the urlmeta plugins characteristics

As always it would be great if someone could have a look through it and clarify if it all makes sense as I have made and attempt to add commentary where I thought it appropriate.

> It is important that we have a comprehensive plugin example for the current release of Nutch as packages and some classes have changed enough to create confusion when attempting to write new custom plugins.
> This also effects the following file
> /trunk/src/java/org/apache/nutch/plugin/package.html
> where an out of date example is mentioned which has now been moved to the archive for exactly the reasons staed above
> @see <a href="http://wiki.apache.org/nutch/WritingPluginExample">
> Writing Plugin Example
> I don't think submitting a patch to simply remove this content from the above .html document is the solution. Rather a better solution is to create a wiki resource and edit the .html file accordingly.
