SVG pagination
Being new to FOP, I have a question which has
probably been answered many times before.
Given an SVG document of an arbitrarily large
size, is it possible with FOP to 'chunk' it into
page-sized pieces, or do I need to work instead
at a lower SVG graphic element level? Or, more
likely, am I completely out to lunch on how FOP
works?
Thank you for any insights.
Regards,
Brian

Not quite. The PDF Page is made the size of the SVG.

the current CVS code base provides a JSVGCanvas with dynamic support.
At this time, we only supports Ecmascript (not SMIL yet).
You can change all the geometry of basic shapes and path + change the
transform attribute on all elements.

Javascript functionality in Batik
Posted by Rhazes Spell <ru...@duke.edu>.
Does anyone have working example source code that implements JSVGCanvas
with javascript functionality that I could view (all copyrights will be
strictly respected!)?
I am an intermediate Java programmer and as a result have not been able to
successfully navigate the examples and libraries that come with Batik. I
tried, unsuccessfully, to modify the source code for the svgbrowser app.
Any assitance would be greatly appreciated!

So in other words if the input SVG is larger than the output PDF page size,
FOP won't autoflow the extra image into another page

Thanks for the information. I see that I'm going to have to do some sort of
pre-calculations on the SVG document before passing it along to the renderer.

When FOP+batik is used to convert an SVG to a PDF it can only put all the
PDF on one page. It is the same as rendering to a png, you only get the
one image out.
If you want pagination with FOP then you need to give it XSL:FO. You could
then put different sections of the SVG on different pages by changing what
part of the SVG appears on the page.
