Creadur Web Site

Hi,

I'm just curious why the staging site[1].
is more up-to-date ((Release 0.12 is on this page)
than the main site[2] and why the site build [3] is not working ?

Unmergeable scheduling requested on an entry: Can't add
'/usr/local/websites/creadur/trunk/content/rat/apache-rat/jira-report.html'
to a parent directory scheduled for deletion at
/usr/local/cms/build/lib/ASF/SVNUtil.pm line 69

For the later I have created an INFRA[4] ticket

Apart from that is there a simple way to publish from the staging site
to production (In Maven we have: https://cms.apache.org/maven/publish)
to publish from staging to production...

Kind regards
Karl Heinz

fine with me - just create a ticket and go ahead :-)

The builds will verify that stuff is working fine.

+1

I'm not sure if all of creadur's part can use one masterpom, since RAT
uses a much older JDK language/compiler level than the rest of the
incubating subprojects.

Hi Phil,

after taking a deeper look (pom's in particular) into the different
parts whiskers, tentacles and rat...

I'm the opinion there must be done something to generalize the pom's of
the different parts / projects to prevent pom duplications etc. and of
course to make site generation from all parts more simpler...

And yes of course let use wait for the git repo and see how git
publishing works ...

No. You need just a little bit more patient..;-)

I've seen that you changed the whole part RAT ...which is a little bit
more...

Now I can see the change...Keep in mind to renew the browser cache...

great news! Thanks.

I tried changing the subdirectory rat, but the stuff does not seem to be
autopublished as did the main index.html file.

Do I need to trigger something?

Hi,

I have chatted with INFRA...they have setup the gitpubsub system...
Currently everything from asf-site will be published to life site.

I have updated the content of the asf-site branch with the production
site content from SVN to get back old state first.

I have summarized some informations:

https://svn.apache.org/repos/infra/infrastructure/buildbot/aegis/buildmaster/master1/projects/ponymail.conf
https://ci.apache.org/builders/infrastructure-puppet-deployment/builds/691/steps/git/logs/stdio

As an example:
https://github.com/apache/incubator-ponymail-site how to build a
site...but I assume we want to build the site via maven or something else?

So this git repo contains the content of the whole site (old
state)(creadur.apache.org):

I have made a small change on the site to see how long it takes..very
short time...the larger the change the longer it takes..

How do we link this to any webpage/host in the ASF universe?

src/site/apt/site-publish.apt

It seems that we need to share the secret knowledge on howto release the
software itself and update the docs.

I've regenerated the site under

I have setup an example site:

https://khmarbaise.github.io/creadur-rat-site-example/

which works. I had to add an index.apt.vm page for apache-rat-api module
(committed).

So the cookbook to create the site (first edition) is as follows:

1. Step

    mvn clean install

Trying to do "mvn site" does not work, cause the aggegrate goal
of maven-javadoc-plugin forks the lifecycle which means
it tries to run "mvn generate-resources" for all modules, but
at that time the jar's have not being generated which produces
    a failure.

2. Step

    mvn site site:stage

This can be separated into two steps:

    mvn site

    mvn site:stage

(The site:stage is needed to gather all modules together
into a single directory where you can test from) and
     where you publish from...

3. Step

    Transfer content of target/staging
(manually done to gh-pages branch for above example which works).

Kind regards
Karl Heinz

Hi Karlheinz,

thanks for your input.

Before we do that I'd like to fix the currently broken site -
the mvn-site-reports of the subprojects are not linked correctly.

Before we decide upon changing the way we build/generate the site we
should fix it or document how it's done correctly.

You can see what I mean by errors at
https://ottlinger.github.io/creadur-rat-examples/index.html
(generated from trunk on 2016-08-29).

Thanks for your help :-)

Re: Creadur Web Site

Posted by Karl Heinz Marbaise <kh...@gmx.de>.
Hi,

I wasn't aware that you are terminating the usage of the CMS sorry for
this noise...so [4] is done.

But I'm not sure why?

Just using the check-in on the site source will be built by
https://ci.apache.org/builders/creadur-site-staging/ and
you can preview the site on https://creadur.staging.apache.org/ and if
you like to publish to life site simply do a publish
(cms.apache.org/creadur/publish)... You don't need to use the cms itself
which I don't like too... On the other hand the VOTE seemed not finished
yet...

With [2] you have started to request informations to use the gitpubsub
or svnpubsub but not yet decided if you need a site for the overall project

creadur-site.git

or only for the RAT part..

creadur-rat-site.git

Based on [1] the content needed to be kept in SVN branch...and will be
replicated to the git site...

Should I request the https://reporeq.apache.org/ the repo ? for the
whole creadur-site.git ?

as I mentioned yesterday: the site from the 0.12-branch is buggy (it
contains some things that are already fixed on the HEAD's site).

But .... the links to the submodules are broken.

If you've got any idea how to fix that: go ahead.
https://ottlinger.github.io/creadur-rat-examples/index.html

What do you mean by: the site build is broken?
https://builds.apache.org/job/Creadur-Rat-Site/
works fine.
