recodset

hi all,
i'm studing soap technologies in two cases.
one is microsoft iis and .net services, with .net and java clients;
onother is apache with tomcat and java services, with .net and java
clients.

my question is this: how can i pass or define, recordsets? i have
limitations in communication between java clients and .net? i have
limitations in communication between .net clients and java services?
