ProtocolSocketFactory and sub-interfaces not b/w compatible.
Version 3.0-RC1.

The interfaces ProtocolSocketFactory and SecureProtocolSocketFactory are not
backwards compatible with 2.0.2 due to the addition of a new method in
ProtocolSocketFactory.

We have an implementation for SecureProtocolSocketFactory that does not compile
because of this.

This should at least be noted in the documentation:
