[Issue 128497] New: There are no usable help instructions to find the 'Task pane'

https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=128497

          Issue ID: 128497
        Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: There are no usable help instructions to find the
                    'Task pane'
           Product: Impress
           Version: 4.1.11
          Hardware: PC
                OS: Windows 7
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: P5 (lowest)
         Component: help
          Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
          Reporter: wrightash@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Wanted to set auto-running slide show.
Search 'Automatic slide show' - tells me to use 'Task Pane' under 'Showing an
automatic slide show (kiosk mode)'

As I had no idea what the task pane is, looked up 'Task Pane'
Tells me to select 'View - Task pane.
There is no 'Task pane' in View.

A help file must be continuously linked.

If you mean View - Side Bar then say so.

Showing an automatic slide show (kiosk mode)' should start something like
Check that View - Side Bar is on
From the side bar menu on (right edge of window) [Sign for menu} click
'Slide Transition'.
Then continue similar to before.

I note that in support there is a help comment for the same problem (search
task bar not in view) where the 'solver' says 'Do you mean 'Side bar'? Most
unhelpful.
I suggest that the term 'Task pane' is added to View or removed from all help
files.
Oh - and 'Task pane' is sometimes written as 'Tasks pane'
A search in Find is unhelpful!

Better than suggest, you can propse your contents in Github directly.

Another way is to provide your help text and attach them here.
Somebody could push on Github afterwards for you.

Fixed in trunk/AOO42X.

Task pane was replaced by Sidebar long ago. The text was not properly adjusted.

Updating Help is still a "work in progress" and the changes will only be
visible in en-US at the moment.

Feel free to open a ticket for your additional observation mention in comment
#2.

I regret I've looked at github and don't understand what to do.

Allied to main problem.
If View/slide pane is OFF(unticked), there is no reaction when Slideshow/Slide
transition...... is clicked.
EITHER Slideshow/Slide transition needs to be greyed out PLUS a help file
stating
that to edit transitions, View/slide pane must be ON (ticked)
OR (better) View/slide pane is automatically ticked to ON and the Slide
transition pane opens

Yes, Github takes some time to understand it.

Can you please open a separate ticket for this issue, please?
(One issue, one ticket)

However, since this project is maintained by volunteers, it needs someone to
work on the issue. So don't expect these to be solved right away...
